The 2009 Clinical Intensive Training

Co-sponsored by NOJOS and the Sex Abuse Services Network of Utah (SASNU)

A pre-conference session to the Troubled Youth Conference

This year's Clinical Intensive Training is a joint venture between NOJOS (the Network on Juveniles Offending Sexually) and the newly created Sex Abuse Services Network of Utah (the voice for victims in Utah).  Both organizations recognize that effective treatment of childhood sexual abuse requires the combined and coordinated efforts of those providing services to both the victims and offenders of abuse.  As such, this training is bringing together providers from both sides of the treatment equation.

For the 2009 Training, we are honored to have Ben Saunders, Ph.D., Professor and Director of the Family and Child Program at the National Crime Victims Center at the Medical University of South Carolina.  Dr. Saunders was the lead consultant on the "Kauffman Best Practices Project to Help Children Heal from Child Abuse."  He is an internationally recognized expert in the area of best practices for addressing child sexual abuse treatment.

During this one day training, Dr. Saunders will present two main topics:

1) "Evidence Supported Treatment for Abused and Traumatized Children," which will discuss the results of national research on the empirical evidence supporting several treatment approaches commonly used with abused and traumatized children.

2) Effective use of "Family Resolution Therapy," an intervention protocol for helping families impacted by sexual abuse to develop long-term resolution for child safety and family functioning.

This conference will again be held at the beautiful Snowbird Cliff Lodge in Little Cottonwood Canyon.  Registration for lodging must be made seperately through Snowbird Reservations at 800-453-3000.  Notify them you are with the NOJOS / Troubled Youth Conference for discounted lodging rates.
